Meet the GO Paint! Jurors

GO Paint! Chippewa Valley Awards Juror and Featured Artist: Nathan Brandner

"The divine courses through all of creation. That divinity is beautiful; it is the duty of the artist to record and share that with others through paintings. A world seemingly steeped in suffering and pain needs the kind of art that relieves and calls forth the light of hope. A painting should help transcend the viewer from the harsh reality of this world and bring them to a place where divine love flourishes.

With attention to craftsmanship akin to that of the old masters I am able to create representational oil paintings that are both technically accurate yet expressive. It is with noble intentions that I carry the torch of the classical traditions through my art. I have come to find a byproduct of that tradition is work that can speak to people across time and space. It is my ultimate goal that my work will one day reach those lofty heights. In the meantime, my wish is that they captivate, transcend, and bring you closer to the divine."

Nathan Brandner was born and raised in Northeastern Wisconsin. Attending the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point he graduated in a timely fashion with a degree in fine art. Following his graduation, he enrolled in a summer course at the Florence Academy of Art to pursue his passion for classical art and unlock the secrets of the old masters. Returning stateside he took his education further yet, training at the Academy of Fine Art in Wisconsin, and currently resides back in northeastern Wisconsin.

Nathan currently delights in working full-time from his studio on the river in Green Bay.
