Teddy Bear Towel Folding

AGE RANGE:  PROJECT SHOULD BE EASILY ACCOMPLISHED BY AGES 4 AND UP WITH HELP FROM PARENT OR GUARDIAN

Have you heard of Origami? You may think about the Japanese paper folding craft. But Origami can be done with other materials as well. Towel folding art and craft can be seen on tables at restaurants, on beds in a hotel rooms, on a fancy bathroom counter of your cousin’s house, or on their dining tables during holiday parties. Have you ever considered how they are made?

EDUCATIONAL OUTCOME

Introduction of Towel Origami with ties to Origami that orginated in Japan.

This project is safe, a home decoration, washable, and a toy for kids that uses reusable easily available materials.

Art Materials Needed
Art Materials Needed
  • A dish/face cloth towel
  • Rubber bands
  • Glue and/or thread and needle (scissors needed to cut the thread)
  • Buttons
  • Ribbon
Project Instructions

  1. Roll two sides of the towel until they meet in the middle
  2. Flip the towel
  3. Twist and fold in uneven half, top half is shorter than the bottom half.
  4. Unfold part of the top half to the sides to create Teddy bear head and arm shapes.
  5. Fold up the top edge to make the shirt
  6. Use rubber bands to tie head, ears, and pre-fold arms and legs to set the pieces in shape.
  7. Glue or sew the buttons to make eyes and nose (adults if using needle).
  8. Tie a bow around the neck.
  9. Untie the hands and feet for a cleaner look (optional).
