EDUCATIONAL OUTCOME

Kids will have the opportunity to make wind chimes while exploring their own creativity.
Art Materials Needed
Art Materials Needed
  • Assorted paints
  • 1 large tin can
  • 2 small tin cans
  • Paintbrush
  • Paper cups
  • Googly eyes
  • Water
  • String
  • Beads
  • Hot glue
Project Instructions

  1. Start making your wind chime by painting a base color on two paper cups. Be sure to color both the inside and outside completely with your paint.
  2. Reap this process with a tin can but feel free to paint the inside and outside different colors to add dimension. Allow time for each layer of paint to dry before applying the next to achieve an opaque finish.
  3. Once completely dry, add a pattern onto all paper cups and tin cans.
  4. Next, cut four strings and tie a triple knot at the base of each. String a pattern of different colored beads on each string.
  5. Once finished beading, glue a single googly eye onto each paper cup.
  6. Next, take two pieces of string and glue them opposite each other to the inside of your small tin can. Use your scissors or a pencil to help secure the string without burning your fingers.
  7. Repeat the last step with another tin can.
  8. Once the glue has dried, tie the two strings together.
  9. Glue the knotted string to the inside of the large tin can.
  10. Repeat the last two steps to your second small tin can.
  11. Next, glue two of the beaded strings onto both small cans.
  12. Now, glue both paper cups to the top of the large tin can.
  13. Glue two more strings on top of the large tin can.
  14. Finally, tie the two strings together so you can hang up your creation.
  15. And there you have it, your very own funky monster wind chime!
