Dinosaur Eggs
AGE RANGE: PROJECT SHOULD BE EASILY ACCOMPLISHED BY AGES 4 AND UP WITH HELP FROM PARENT OR GUARDIAN
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 - 1 1/2 HOURS
Do you have a favorite book or show about Dinosaurs? What do you know about them? How many were there on Earth? Which ones only eat meat? Which ones only eat plants? Do any of them eat both?
After watching and reading Fly Guy Presents: Dinosaurs!" by Tedd Arnold, why don’t we create some Dinosaurs Eggs together? Let’s do it!
EDUCATIONAL OUTCOME
Learn about dinosaurs. Opporunity to practice writing and breaking down the names of complex words.
Art Materials Needed
- Egg carton
- Tissue paper (Kleenex)
- Markers
- Scissors
- Water
- Stick notes (or paper and glue)
- Toothpick
Project Instructions
- Cut and seperate the carton egg holders. Cut for as many eggs as you want.
- Cut tissues into small, square pieces
- Carefully drape tissues through the water
- Wrap around the egg carton pieces. Layer as many times as you would like (3 to 4 layers are recommended)
- When the eggs are still damp, roll with the side of a marker to create marble coloring effect. Use as many color and patterns you'd like
- Use stick notes and toothpicks and makers to create labels for each egg.
- Use your book(s) and the internet as references and write the dinosaurs’ names
- Let them dry and display where and however you want. If you have some dinosaur toys, display them with the eggs for fun!
Additional Project Idea
After you make your eggs, use your imagination and create a nest for your dinosaur eggs! What will your dinosaur nest look like, does it have feathers? Rocks? Sticks? Use your imagination and create your own dino-nest for your eggs. ????
